I tried to eat healthier during IVF but not in an extreme “fertility diet” kind of way. My clinic mostly told me to focus on consistency instead of trying random internet trends. So I started eating more protein, vegetables, healthy fats, less junk food, less sugar, and cut back on alcohol and too much caffeine.
I also remember becoming weirdly obsessed with googling “implantation foods” and “foods that improve egg quality,” and honestly it just made me more anxious. At some point I realized stress was probably worse for me than occasionally eating pasta or dessert.
A lot of women in IVF groups seem to gravitate toward Mediterranean-style eating because it’s realistic and not super restrictive. Things like eggs, fish, avocados, nuts, berries, leafy greens, etc. get mentioned constantly.
But I’ve also seen plenty of people get pregnant while eating completely normally, so I wouldn’t put pressure on yourself to eat “perfectly.” IVF already feels consuming enough without turning every meal into a fertility test.

No, but I know someone who went on a super-strict diet for months when she was trying to conceive. It didn’t help. Finally, when she gave up all that and relaxed a bit, she conceived.
Infact, they were on a trip with friends, where she was planning to eat and drink freely, when she discovered she’s already pregnant.
I think moderation is key, unless you have a very unhealthy lifestyle.

I didn’t follow any extreme “IVF diet” honestly, but whatever I did helped. I just tried to clean things up a bit for 2-3 months before retrieval: more protein, less junk food, cut down sugar, stopped alcohol completely, and tried to sleep properly. I also added fruits, nuts, eggs, yogurt, and drank more water because the stimulation meds made me feel bloated anyway.
One thing I do think helped was consistency rather than some miracle fertility food. There’s so much marketing around “fertility diets” online and most of it felt exaggerated. My doctor basically said: if your body is under constant stress, poor sleep, smoking, heavy drinking, or nutritional deficiencies, fix those first.
I did ask my doctor and take supplements for while: folic acid, vitamin D, CoQ10 for a while.
